Pte.Ltd; world leader in imaging technologies. Set up in 1997,
Canon India markets a comprehensive range of sophisticated
contemporary digital imaging products that include photocopiers,
multi-functional peripherals, fax-machines, printers, scanners,
digital cameras and multi media projectors. Five imaging engines
of Image Capturing, Electrophotography, Bubble Jet, Semiconductor
and Display drive these cutting-edge technology products.
The company today has offices in 7 cities across India and
employs over 400 people.

In 1997, Canon India Pvt Ltd was set up in the country. Since

The range of products offered by Canon in India is extremely
diverse and includes copiers, printers, facsimile machines,
scanners, multifunctional devices, multimedia solutions, consumables,
digital cameras, digital camcorders, projectors and calculators.
A hallmark of Canon’s product portfolio is that – its products
are built on convergence of technologies to offer multi-functionality
at exceptionally high resolution.
Canon acquired a landmark customer base of over 3,00,000
for its digital imaging products portfolio.In keeping with
its strong customer focus and desire to meet and exceed customer
expectations, Canon has structured its business into Volume
(Consumer and Mass Office Products) and Value (High-end networked
solution products). Canon believes that this move has helped
sharpen its customer orientation and significantly enhanced
the value it provides to its corporate and home customers.
As a part of the company’s strong focus on distribution and
channel network, Canon has 281 channel partners, 25 retail
stores, over 100 service centres and more than 2700 IT resellers
across 300 towns in India it does business in.
In 2004, Canon launched a record of 51 new digital imaging
products in India, a landmark in the industry. The company
has outlined an aggressive roadmap to emerge as India’s Number
1. Digital Imaging Company by capturing a 30% market share
by 2007 in all major product categories of the Indian Digital
Imaging market. Canon presently has over 110 products offerings
in India and will introduce more than 40 new products in 2005.
Canon expects huge growth in 2005 with a 273% growth for the
Image Communication Products (Digicam) business and a 46%
growth in Consumer System products (CSP) division. Besides
achieving No.1 market share in most product categories, we
want to demonstrate that our people can reach the highest
level of quality and customer satisfaction – and, by achieving
that, win the CII-Exim award for quality by end of 2005.
As part of its efforts to improve it’s after sales service
and customer support, Canon has set up a specially designed
customer service management system called iCAN plus to provide
responsive and pro-active support to its customers. ICAN plus
is a help desk that provides online automated solutions to
Canon customers. It is the first such system used in the office
automation service industry in India and tracks all Canon
business machines to help reduce breakdowns, reduce cycle
time to resolve issues and provide online status for customer
orders.
In addition to its digital
imaging business, Canon India has a Software Development Centre
located in Gurgaon. Set up in the middle of 1999, the Canon
Software Development Centre is one of the six such cutting edge
technology centres established by Canon Inc. globally. It is
also Canon's latest R&D Center to be set up outside Japan.
It is ISO 9001:2000 certified and in April 2004 has achieved
the CMM level 3 status. The center develops document management
software, including some general-purpose tools for Canon Inc.The
high-tech Digital Technology Lab at this centre, houses hardware
to simulate network environment scenarios and is also used to
trouble-shoot potential stress points in networking application
situations.
